Those maximums do not describe one truck
The 13,300-pound conventional maximum requires a Double Cab, 2WD, standard bed, 3.0L Duramax, Max Trailering Package and 20-inch wheels and tires. The 9,900-pound fifth-wheel/gooseneck maximum instead requires a Double Cab, 2WD, standard bed, 5.3L V8, Max Trailering Package and a customer-installed hitch. Which engine fits how you actually use the truck?
TurboMax
TurboMax makes 430 lb-ft—more published torque than the 5.3L V8—and GMC lists up to 9,400 pounds of conventional towing in the right configuration. Route 15 needs its own check: Connecticut DOT says trailers are prohibited on the Merritt, Wilbur Cross and Milford parkways.
